My poor, sweet Abram...today was a tough day for him. Both of his top front teeth are trying to come in at the same time and he is an uncomfortable, upset little fella. We went over to a wonderful friend's house this morning to hang out and to try to help her get ready for their family's move without our zoo tornado-ing through her house (we are following behind them in a few weeks...SO thankful to know we will be with their sweet family!). We attempted a nap but Mr. Abram definitely did not want to be put down, and was gnawing on his little fingers like "The Fox" from that Nickle Creek song Braddock sings ;) . So while the bigger kids played outside and made purple puddles with sidewalk chalk, Abram was strapped in the Ergo (LOVE that thing) and would chat with me every time I looked down at him. After some organizing and pitching (hopefully it sparked some much needed motivation in me to do the same! Michael and I are such sentimental fools...ok, I probably shouldn't sugar coat it--we are total and utter pack rats and I need to rampage through my house with those massive yard-sized trash bags) we ventured over to the BX for lunch and so the kids could play on the indoor play area. Braddock's recent obsession is "Click Clack Moo!" and he would bust out randomly with a "COWS THAT TYPE?! HENS ON STRIPE (strike*)?!" and crack himself up laughing as he quoted the book (I also heard this exclamation while he was falling asleep tonight, followed by belly-laughs). One thing's for sure...I'm having to lighten up on my germ-a-phobia (Michael, I can almost hear you cheering right about now!). Really up until the past few months I had always carried antibacterial hand sanitizer lotion, gel, and table wipes (I still have the wipes in my car, along with plastic, sticker-like disposable place-mats), but the moment of truth for me today was when Braddock stood watching people throwing their trash into the big ole' trash cans in the BX...then, with a determined gleam in his eye, picked up his shoes and headed for the big blue grated trash pit, winding up his arm. I felt like I was in slow motion running and reaching and practically singing "Noooooo!"...and when I got there, all I saw was one lone shoe, sitting on the rim of the trash can, and a very confused Braddock (it's like in his head he was saying, "but Mommy, everyone is throwing their stuff in there!"). I peeked in at the trash and thought to myself, it was a good shoe....it had a good lifespan...we used it well...it was kind of stinky anyways...I didn't know if I could muster the nerve to stick my hand in and dig. Thankfully my sweet, much more observant friend mentioned she thought he had only brought one shoe to chuck...and low and behold, the other shoe lie safely, as germ free as a shoe can be, resting right on the chair where it had been left. Thank. Goodness.
After a fun morning we headed home for naps, then hit up the commissary. The boys got to drive the carts together again (poor Abram was trying to gnaw on the steering wheel), and Braddock picked out some popsicles for desert. He was SO excited...he literally held the chilly box in his lap through checkout, put it on the conveyer belt himself, and waved "bye bye" to it as it was bagged and placed in the other cart. He made sure to point out to me that he ate all his supper and said "are you ready for your popsicle, Buddy?" Love how he words things :)
This one is a "Daddy" face for sure :)
A sleepy Abram enjoying his turkey and veggies and popping some of his usual, big Abram grins that we had been missing so much today!
YAY dinner!! Big claps!
The fella likes to eat, that's for sure. If it's not coming quite as quickly as he would like, he flails his arms in the air and says "aye-aye-aye-aye!!" almost like he's singing "Ole' McDonald!" So sweet :)
Our big ole' badger seeing if he can rustle up some leftovers...
Poor thing, chewing on anything he can get his hands on :( Hopefully those teeth will pop through soon!
Loving his bath time! These boys are SO sweet in the tub...I think maybe because they are contained together, but bath time allows them to be so much more interactive and they will smile, hug and snuggle each other. I think bed time routine is one of my favorite parts of the day...there is just such a sense of peacefulness, love, and joy amidst the chaos.
I couldn't fit them both in the picture because I was down on the floor with them, but this is a picture of Braddock smiling at Abram...they were playing with a book on the floor while I was drying them off.
Picking out books for bedtime...
These were totally not posed...Braddock said, "Come on Abram! Let's read books!" and Abram crawled over and plopped himself down...
....and then got distracted by the puzzles :)
We ended the day with a few songs and prayers, and lots of eskimo noses (that was the hit for the night, and it cracked them both up, especially when Braddock tried to eskimo nose Abram).
Hopefully tomorrow we will have some teeth popping through! We'll have to see...
